This places text directly in your document and not by adding a comment. This version of adobe is not user friendly for the typewriter feature. Things are difficult to find. The Typewriter tool has just been moved. As noted in this tutorial, it is now located in the Comment pane in the Annotations panel and is now call the Add Text Comment tool.

If I grab the corner to resize make it smaller , the typed letters start to disappear.
