It might be that the USB drivers would have gone corrupt. I would suggest you to uninstall the drivers from the device manager and let windows reinstall it when the system starts up. Follow the steps mentioned below. Click on Start menu and type device manger in the start search box and press Enter. Click on the USB Universal serial bus controllers to expand the list and delete the drivers that are installed on the system.
Close device manager and restart the computer. Let windows install the drivers for the USB ports automatically.
