If the PC is a fresh load, no 3rd party apps loaded, has never connected to the internet, and has no network connection to any other PC that has, then spyware shouldn't be the problem. Otherwise it certainly could be giving you trouble. If you have an internet connection and since you will want spyware killer apps real soon, couldn't hurt to get them now. I am suffering the exact same problem.
My system is clean instal on newly formatted drive. I connected to net and got the error message described in previous posts. I will post a copy of the event log for you. I read on the Microsoft website that this bug would be addressed in SP4. Why should'nt Microsoft and Novell resolve the problem of svchost delinquency?
